California Real Estate Agents & BrokersThe third largest state in the US after Alaska and Texas, California covers an area of 163,707 square miles. Nicknamed the "Golden State," California was addmitted into the union in 1849, as the discovery of gold and the influx of miners, called "forty niners" headed to this west coast state to join in the rush. California borders the Pacific Ocean to its west side, Oregon on the north side, Nevada & Arizona are to the east, and the Mexican State of Baja California. The state has beautiful natural features, from the Pacific coastline, to the interior fertile central valley, high mountains ranges, and dry deserts.
